Ordering

How do I get a price?

Send your door opening width and height, how much clear wall you have above and beside the opening, your bumper projection, and how many doors. A straight-on photo of the door from about twenty feet back answers most of the rest. Full detail here: how to measure a dock door.

Do you charge more for a custom size?

No. Every seal is cut and sewn to order, so building to your exact opening costs the same as a so-called standard size. There is no catalogue unit sitting on a shelf that we discount against.

Can you estimate from a diagram?

Yes. Send a diagram of your dock and we will estimate cost and time to complete the project.

Is there a minimum order?

No. One door is a perfectly normal order, and so is twenty. If you are doing a row, tell us up front — scheduling them together usually helps the lead time rather than hurting it.

Build and materials

What materials do you use?

Ground-treated lumber, high-density memory foam, 40-ounce vinyl-coated polyester, marine-grade UV-protected thread, and brass grommet compression-release ports.

Why 40-oz vinyl?

Weight is the honest shorthand for how long a seal lasts. Lighter vinyl is cheaper and tears sooner, particularly along the pleats where trailers abrade it. Full breakdown on the technical specs page.

What is the hi-vis stripe for?

Lining the driver up. It is the cheapest component on the assembly and it prevents the most expensive failure, because a trailer that backs in off-centre wears one pad out while the other still looks new.

Do you make anything else?

Industrial dock bean bags — heavy-duty cushioning that absorbs impact and protects the dock and trailer during loading. Same shop, same materials. See products.

Delivery and fitting

How long until completion once approved?

Weeks, not months. If we are running longer than usual you will hear it before you order rather than in week six.

Do you ship? Can we pick up?

Both. We ship nationwide, or you can pick up at our Tyler, TX facility at 11316 State Highway 64 W.

Are mounting brackets included?

Yes, with every seal.

Do I need a contractor to install it?

Most maintenance crews mount their own. The backing frame is drilled to land on solid wall and the brackets come with the seal. If your people hang doors, they can hang a seal.

Should I replace my dock bumpers at the same time?

If they are worn, yes. Bumpers set how far the trailer stops from the wall. Worn bumpers let a trailer over-compress new foam and shorten the life of the seal, and new bumpers are cheap by comparison.

Choosing

Is a seal right for my dock, or do I need a shelter?

Seals suit consistent fleets on standard openings of roughly 8′ to 9′. Mixed fleets, wide doors, sloped approaches and very high cycle counts favour a shelter. We build seals and we will still tell you when a shelter is the better buy — the comparison is here.

My dock still leaks air. Is the seal bad?

Check the gap under the dock leveller first. Air moves through that opening all day regardless of what is mounted around the door, and it is the most commonly missed leak on a dock.
